Thanks to the efforts of the 2009 Sherwood Trust Leadership Class, the Center now has a new room for Early Learning. The Early Learning Center is the only one of its kind in the state of Washington. The Early Learning Center brings together our area's generations on behalf of children ages 1 - 5, thereby deepening and expanding our sense of community. Children, young parents and grandparents will have a broader social experience. Ideally, this program will provide a prototype for other communities.
This program embraces social sustainability by giving our children a hand up with early childhood learning; by helping parents to be more effective; and, by physically bringing together cultures and generations for the betterment of our rural society. A positive economic outcome is always a product of better education and skill development. The program is free to its particpants, but donations are always encouraged and appreciated.
The Early Learning Center will be working with community organizations such as Commitment to Community, Children's Home Society, BMAC, and the Early Learning Coalition to encourage neighborhood residents to fully utilize the Learning Center. This program will also become engaged in multi-generational programming.
The Early Learning program is available now through the summer months on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 A.M. There's still room for more signups to this program.
